Videos use credits when you export, and starting one needs a balance that covers its export. Counts assume a 30-second product demo and a 60-second explainer with narration and 3 illustrations.

Release notes video FAQs

  1. What is a release notes video?

A release notes video is a short motion graphics clip that announces one product change, either a feature still on the roadmap or a version that has shipped. It names the product and the change so people can see the update without reading a changelog list.

  2. What is the difference between a release notes video and a launch video?

A release notes video covers one later change to a product that already exists. A launch video is the first announcement that the product is available, usually built from a logo and a screenshot. Use the launch gallery for launch day and this gallery for updates after that.

  3. Which release notes videos can I watch here?

This category has two creator videos, both 16:9. Roadmap feature tease is 15 seconds and teases the next feature from a product roadmap. Paracortex Terminal update film is 25 seconds and announces the Paracortex Terminal update and Pi 1.0.

  4. How do I remake a release notes video?

Play the clip, then choose Use this prompt. Potto starts a new project from that prompt and renders its own version. Replace the product name, the feature and the version with yours, preview the result and export an MP4.

  5. What should a product update video include?

Include the product name, the one change and the version or the roadmap item. Roadmap feature tease stays on the next feature. Paracortex Terminal update film names the product, the update and Pi 1.0. Leave the rest of the changelog in writing.

  6. Which ratio and length can I export?

Release notes videos export as MP4 in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. Both clips in this gallery are 16:9. From the creator, length can be 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 seconds. The 25-second Paracortex Terminal film is that creator's finished cut, not a length setting.

  7. Can I change the video after the first preview?

Yes. Describe the change in the chat, for example a different version name or a shorter line, and Potto renders a new preview. Each change is a round you can undo. Previewing and editing do not use credits.

  8. Does a release notes video include music or a voiceover?

Music is picked to match the style, and you can swap it or turn it off. You can add a voiceover when you create the video. The line on screen still has to name the product update, the way Pi 1.0 is named in the Paracortex Terminal film.

  9. How much does a release notes video cost?

A release notes video costs credits only when you export it, at 5 credits per second of video: 75 credits for 15 seconds and 150 for 30 seconds. A voiceover, if you add one, adds a few credits based on its length. Watching the gallery is free. To start, your balance must cover the length you choose at 5 credits per second, and new accounts get 100 credits, enough to start a 15-second video.
